Life Education

In Week 1 of this term we were very lucky!  We got to see Jess and Gerald the Giraffe in the Life Education van.  We talked about all of the things we need.  We need: shelter, love, safety, sleep, to wash, food, water, oxygen and exercise.  We loved Gerald the Giraffe.  We were so good in the van that he even sang us a song.

ANZAC Day

In Room 3 we have been learning about ANZAC Day.  We made some Poppy Art using paper plates.  Come in and see our art!

We love Fairy Judy!

Last week we had a very special visitor in Room 3.  It was Fairy Judy!

Fairy Judy came to give the children who filled out their Holiday Reading Log a certificate and a prize.

Discovery Time

On a Thursday morning, Room 3 has Discovery Time.  This is an hour long programme where we learn through play. This is an important part of our programme.  We have Discovery Time because......
*It teaches social skills
*It promotes oral language
*It helps in transition from Kindy or Pre-school
*It helps build and maintain relationships
*It uses a young child's natural way of learning
*Teachers and Teacher Aides work with children to support learning

After Discovery Time we move onto writing.  This means that every child has an experience that they can write about.

We love learning through play!!

Bubbles! Bubbles! Bubbles!

We had a fun morning making bubbles with our new bubble machine.  We did lots of talking about bubbles and then we did some amazing writing in our writing books.  You can read these stories in our writing books.  Why don't you come in and read them?

Room 3's reading area

We have a nice new reading area in Room 3.  It is a fun and comfortable place to read lots of stories and poems.

We like the rug with pom poms and the bright new cushions.  We also have a blanket with pom poms just in case we need some quiet time.

Race Relations Day 2015

On Friday 20 March we had Race Relations Day.  We wore an outfit from our culture or a culture we liked.  We had a special assembly and walked across the stage so that everyone could see our outfits.  At 12.30pm the whole school came together and shared a yummy lunch where we tried foods from lots of different cultures.

We had visitors throughout the day who came and taught us about their culture.  What a fun day of learning we had!
