Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful Mum's in Room 3.

An experiment with an egg

We did an experiment with an egg.  Miss Morgan forgot to go to the shops to buy an egg.  Oh no!  What were we going to do?  We decided that we could get some eggs from our school chickens.  What a clever idea!!
First we had to pick some silverbeet from the school garden that we could feed the chickens while we went into their chicken house to get some eggs.

Once we had collected our eggs we put our egg in a glass of vinegar.  Can you guess what happened?  When we checked our egg the next day we found that the shell had dissolved and the egg was all soft and squishy.  It felt very funny!

Dancing raisins!

We are very clever in Room 3.  We can make raisins dance!!!
We added raisins to plain tap water.  The raisins sank to the bottom.
We added raisins to soda water.  The raisins started dancing!  The raisins went up and down, up and down.  We think the bubbles in the soda water made the raisins dance.  What do you think?

Science with M and M's.

We did an experiment with M and M's.  We put M and M's in a container and poured warm water over them.  We had to PREDICT what would happen and then OBSERVED.  We OBSERVED that the water turned the colour of the M and M's and the M and M's turned white!

Science with our buddy class

We did a science experiment with our buddy class, Room 25.  We went out onto the field because it was a very messy experiment.  Miss O'Shea put some Mentos lollies into a bottle of coke.  Can you guess what happened?

Room 3 Scientists make a bag go POP!

Room 1 and 3 got together to do an amazing experiment.  We made a bag go POP!!  It was very very exciting!
We added baking and soda and water to a bag.  We passed it around so that everyone could feel it.  It felt COLD.
We added damprid and water to another bag.  We passed it around so that everyone could feel it.  It felt WARM.
We added damprid, baking soda and water to another bag.  We watched the bag patiently.  We observed that the bag got bigger and bigger and bigger then it went......... POP!!

Meet the Room 3 Scientists

It was Science Week last week and we became scientists in Room 3.  We learnt about PREDICTING and OBSERVING.  We did lots of experiments and guessed or PREDICTED what would happen. Then watched or OBSERVED to see what happened.  Then we thought about what had happened in the experiment and why.  Our first experiment was magic milk.  We put milk and food colouring on a plate.  Then we added dishwashing liquid.  Look at what happened!!  Can you guess why that happened?

Writing in Room 3

We LOVE writing in Room 3!  We are learning to use our ABC card to help us find words and sounds.  We are also learning to put fingerspaces between our words and a fullstop at the end of our sentence.  You are very welcome to come and see our writing any time.  I am sure you will be very proud of Room 3 and our amazing writers.

Numeracy

In Numeracy this week, we are learning to work with 10's frames.  If you don't know what a 10's frame is, come into Room 3 and we can show you!

Numeracy

In Numeracy we are learning to make groups of objects.  We are learning to point to each object as we count.  You can do this at home too!  Maybe you could ask your child to put 4 forks and 4 knives on the table.  At the supermarket you could ask your child to go and get 10 apples and put them in a bag.

We love milk!

We are lucky enough to get milk on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  We are learning to put the straw in the carton all by ourselves and drink without too much spilling :-)

Team work!

It took a lot of team work, sharing and turn taking to make our marble run.

Life Education

In Week 1 of this term we were very lucky!  We got to see Jess and Gerald the Giraffe in the Life Education van.  We talked about all of the things we need.  We need: shelter, love, safety, sleep, to wash, food, water, oxygen and exercise.  We loved Gerald the Giraffe.  We were so good in the van that he even sang us a song.
